"Logging Living Learning"
With vendors from all realms of the logging world, the fairgrounds fill with equipment, demonstrations, exhibits and shows. From yarders and loaders to skidders and portable sawmills. We even have a helicopter air crane come to the show and it has become a crowd favorite. The CDF sets up fire fighting displays. Historical logging exibitions and small equipment demonstrations are live each day.
Panel discussions on current issues that directly affect day to day operations in the forest industry are a focal point for conference attendees. Information on forest management, forest products, wildlife and safety are just a few of the topics.
Nationally recognized keynote speakers discuss current issues facing our industry. Recent speakers include Rush Limbaugh, Baxter Black and activist Bruce Vincent discussed a host of topics affecting our industry today.
TEACHERS! Please visit our education page if you are looking for information on our Natural Resource Education Funding Program.
Our logging conference strives to teach our children the ways of forest care. We invite the local schools to participate by attending our show each year. Each class is encouraged to work together to produce a mural reflecting the forest products industry. The murals are displayed at the conference. Classes are chosen from the group to receive awards for their efforts based on the mural's depiction of the current year's theme. Every year we raffle off a chance to win a new quad. From the profits of the raffle, college scholarships are awarded to a number of college students that are pursuing forest practices related fields. Also, grants are awarded to grade school teachers for classroom natural resource studies. This is separate from our mural program.
RRLC has announced classes will be offered during the conference for PROLOGGER credits. Contact the office in Eureka to sign up. Up to 16 units will be offered.
The annual golf tournament gives everyone a chance to show their skills and tell a few stories. Its great to renew old friendships in a relaxed setting that most of us don’t get the chance to take the time to enjoy.
The Timberman’s Banquet and Dance and Auction is the big finale to the conference. Huge steaks for dinner and huge bids at the charity auction are expected by all.
If you would like to be a part of all this, please visit us this coming year in Ukiah California, March 20th-22th, 2008.
